Our Next Generation

While the elite fencers of Asgard have been getting most of the attention, we would also like to take some time to acknowledge our up and coming generations of sabre fencers in the club.

In the National Interschools Championships Women’s Sabre event held on April 14th, our fencers Lim Xinyi, Rosamond Ng, Ko Minji and Sherry Goh took part in the B Division (U-17) category, and we’re extremely proud that Lim Xinyi came back with the Bronze and Rosamond finished 5th! In addition, Xinyi, Rosamond and Minji were also part of the team who were crowned Champions at the National Cadet Championships in January. We have high hopes that these girls will be able to break into the National Team in the next fencing season.

In addition, we would like to celebrate the achievements of our even younger fencers who have been winning at the U-12 level. Wong Yu Qi finished with an individual bronze at the National U-12 Championships in March, and more recently finished with a silver at the Singapore Sports School Invitational U-11 event. Bryan Hoh also finished with a bronze at the Invitational U-11 event, a great result as he only began fencing sabre a few months back.

However, besides the individual achievements, we are very proud of the character shown by each and every one of our U-12 cohort. They are always dedicated and focused at trainings, and are highly respectful towards coaches and fellow athletes. We hope that they will continue their fencing journey together and grow into role models for their peers.
